In the 19th century the Cyrillo-Methodian tradition met with a considerable response in the Moravian rural population as well as in cities. The apostles as representatives of Czech oriented spiritual culture became one of the icons of the Czech society striving for emancipation. The topic appeared in ceramics, devotional graphics and pilgrimage prints. An important example of the use of the Cyrillo-Methodian theme is a unique glass painting „Baptism of St. Bořivoj“ originating from the Ždánice region from the first third of the 19th century. The presented exhibits will be complemented with interesting documentary photographs from pilgrimages to Velehrad in the first third of the 20th century.
